On the morning of 19 March 2023, Saturday, Westford Uni Online students graduating with their master’s degrees from Cardiff Metropolitan University (CMU) walked in through the gates of Madinat Jumeirah, UAE. This was not your usual Saturday morning shenanigan. The students, accompanied by their friends and family members, were there to celebrate the success of the graduating students at La La Réussite– Westford Felicitation Ceremony 2023.
More than 70 students walked up to the stage to receive their congratulatory testamurs and over a hundred loved ones applauded the graduating students. These testamurs were awarded to the students by the honourable representatives of CMU- Prof. David Brooksbank, Senior Dean of the School of Management and Professor of Enterprise, Cardiff School of Management.
The ceremony started off with a formal procession that included delegates of Westford as well as Cardiff Metropolitan University. The procession was followed by a speech by the Associate Dean of Westford – Dr Soofi Anwar.
He congratulated the students and addressed them saying “talent and skills are the crops that are nurtured and given all the potential opportunities to grow and bloom. Today symbolizes the day of harvesting for this crop. It is a much-awaited event in the lives of every graduating students as it marks that you are now ready to receive the return for all the time and effort that you have invested into your growth.”
The event featured live music, speeches from delegates of Westford Education Group and Cardiff Metropolitan University, testamur distribution ceremony, as well as an awards distribution ceremony recognising the Valedictorian of the Year 2022. The event was live broadcasted on Facebook, YouTube, and LinkedIn, with over 5000 views globally. Prof. David Brooksbank also took this opportunity to congratulate the students.
He said “It is a great day in your life that you will all remember for the rest of your lives. I should begin by complimenting you on seeking qualification of this type and level; it is not an easy task.”
It was an especially memorable day for the valedictorian of the Cardiff Metropolitan University MBA batch of 2022 – Layal Khazzan.
She was awarded a valedictorian shield for her outstanding and overall academic performance.
She took to the stage and delivered a heartfelt message to her fellow classmates, expressing
“Our hard work, dedication and perseverance has brought us to this special occasion, and we should be immensely proud of ourselves…We interestingly came from different social and professional backgrounds, with different perspectives and experiences, however, we all share a common aspiration and a vision. We sacrificed family gatherings, worked relentlessly on numerous sleepless nights, laughed, texted each other back and forth, and tried to survive the meetings, deadlines and assignments. As we leave the ceremony today and transition to the next chapter of our lives, let us carry our achievements with humility.”

The event came to a successful end with the students thanking their loved ones for the support they have received during their academic journey with Westford Uni Online. The graduated then proceeded to throw their hats in the air as a gesture of celebration and pride.
The felicitation was followed by brunch and a photoshoot session where the graduates received an opportunity to capture some precious moments together with their friends and families. Some of them also reflected over their online educational journey with Westford:
